
Caitlin Shroyer: Prelude Instructor
Caitlin Shroyer is the Orchestra Director in West Essex Regional School District in North Caldwell, New Jersey. She has previously served as the orchestra director for schools in Houston, Texas and Cranford, New Jersey. She has also taught privately in those states, in addition to her home state of Pennsylvania. Ms. Shroyer’s orchestras have earned superior ratings in adjudications and festivals, including multiple years of earning all superior ratings in concert and sight-reading contests (Houston, TX).
Ms. Shroyer earned her B. S. in Music Education and M. M. in Violin Performance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has maintained an active freelancing career as a violinist since beginning her Master’s degree in 2010, performing in a variety of venues in Pennsylvania, Texas, New Jersey, and New York. Ms. Shroyer is a member of NAfME and NJMEA. She has served as a Co-chair for the Orchestra Division of NJSMA and helped create the NJ-ASTA Mentor Program. For four years, she was a member of Carnegie Hall’s Music Educators Workshop, a program of monthly workshops focusing on pedagogy, conducting, and best teaching practices.
Ms. Shroyer has also continued her education with graduate classes at Vandercook College, The Hartt School, and University of the Arts. Ms. Shroyer maintains an active teaching studio of violin and cello students, and is on the faculty of Lakeland Youth Symphony, where she teaches group classes to young students.
